I’ve noticed in recent weeks an uptick in people interested in Boutique Wines and Champagne as gifts for their friends and relatives in Australia. Reasons include, birthdays, special events, Christmas or just a way to let people know that they are being thought of.
I wonder has this been brought on by recent discussions about people living in Australia being discouraged from traveling back to their families and friends in Europe or wherever else they might be until sometime in 2022?
Alternatively, is it due to parents and friends primarily in the UK who are not able to travel to Australia to see their loved ones?
I know how they must feel. I was due to travel to England in July to be the Godfather at the Baptism of my young niece, one of two that I haven’t seen as yet. It would have been our first family reunion since 2017.
Additionally, my parents should have been in Australia for the Fourth birthday of my son and a few weeks later for the Second birthday of my daughter, but visas weren’t forthcoming.
