2014 Reserve Semillon
$59 a bottle
A classic Hunter Semillon from winemaker Daniel Binet for Block Eight. Made simply via cool fermentation in stainless steel to showcase perfect fruit picked clean and glowingly green. This wine has been cellared for six years to allow it to develop soft buttery characteristics balanced delicately with ripe citrus. Delivering notes of lemon flowers with a hint of citrus sherbet, flowing through to a steely mid-palate with a touch of flint on the back palate and lingering grapefruit and white pepper flavours.
Awarded Silver Medal at the Hunter Boutique Wine Show.
96 points - James Halliday and voted one of Australia's best 20 semillons for 2014.
"Medium to light yellow colour showing some development, and a faintly sulfury bouquet of lemongrass and dry straw. The palate is sprightly with acidity and fruit, yet it's very dry. This is packed full of fruit yet retains its subtlety and delicacy, thanks to driving acidity. Lovely wine. Worthwhile aging. (92 points)" Huon Hooke
"Lime, subtle herbal perfume, wet stones and the like. Palate is light, pure and precise with clean acidity, juicy citrus flavour and subtle sweetness of grapefruit on a pretty long finish. Good now, with potential for more. (93+ points)" Winefront
