Let the OX out of the box! - Boutique Wine and Champagne

Between 1.5 billion to 2 billion people around the world celebrate the Lunar New Year. New Year’s Eve this year is February 11th, and ushers in the year of the OX. If you are an Ox, born in 2009, 1997, 1985, 1973, 1961, etc., there is every likelihood that you are hardworking, calm and honest. If you were born in these years and you do not have these characteristics, may I suggest you check your birth certificate.

The Lunar New Year is also known as The Spring Festival and marks the end of winter.

Red decorations abound and fireworks welcome in the New Year.

On New Year’s Eve in China, one will almost certainly find alcohol on the reunion dining table, along with tea of course. Food will include dumplings, fish and other foods that symbolise family unity and prosperity. There will also be noodles for a long life.

Accompanying these dishes will be in all probability, Baijiu white wine, and Tusu wine.

Now if you would like to break with tradition, we would not stop you from sampling some of the Champagne and Wines at boutiquewinechampagne.com.

You may want to try one of our Rieslings which will match with many Chinese dishes.

If you are looking for a Red try a Pinot Noir or a Bordeaux.

For those amongst you who really want to do something special, we are excited to have just taken delivery this week of Blanc de Noirs Champagne and Brut Nature Champagne from the House of Senez. These are Champagnes for connoisseurs of the noble grape.

Finally, I cannot sign off without telling you about an incredibly special Red which has found enormous popularity in the Middle Kingdom. It is a beautiful Shiraz, Carinya Estate Old Vine Barossa Valley Shiraz.

Go on spoil yourself. It is Lunar New Year!
